Biography

William Ernest Figgis enlisted in the United Kingdom with the Bedford Regiment. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria, both he and his father Samuel Figgis were prominent at the School of Mines, Ballarat. He firstly volunteered with the Australian Engineers as a Lieutenant, but later volunteered in the United Kingdom and was stationed with the Bedford Regiment as a Major. He was discharged and Returned to Australia. Tree number 3848.
