Biography

Francis Dysart Lever (SN 188) was born in Ballarat but enlisted at Horsham, on February 2nd 1915, where he worked as a gardener. Single and 23 years old, he was drafted to the 22nd Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in May on board the Ulysses. He saw action at Gallipoli before moving to France in 1916. He was severely wounded during the fighting at Pozieres, and died on 28th July 1916. He is buried in Warloy-Baillon Cemetery, France.
