Daniel Cocking was born in Ballarat, but enlisted from Cue, WA, on the 4th of September 1914. He was 27, unmarried and a prospector. He joined the 11th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 980. On 30th May 1916, he was killed in action while his unit was on duty in the trenches . He is buried in the Rue Petillon Military Cemetery, France.
