Alexander Thomas Barr was a 20 year old grocer in Koroit when he enlisted on the 5th of January 1915. He had been born in Ballarat. He was allocated to the 13th Light Horse Regiment as a Trooper. His Regimental No. was 120. Later he was transferred to the 1st Anzac Salvage Company- a unit which did valuable work recovering and recycling used equipment from the battlefields. He was killed in action on 22nd March 1918 near Bailleul, and is buried in the Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension in France.
