Gustav Stelling was born in Ballarat but was a process engraver in Essendon when he enlisted on 17th June 1915. He was 19 years old, and single. He was posted to the 22nd Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1960. On 29th October 1915 he was killed in action in the Hill 60 area, and is buried in Shrapnel Valley Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
