Biography

George Dingwall (SN 1557) was born in Scotland and was an 18 year old farm labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 1st 1915. He trained with the Army Service Corps before embarking aboard the Ascanius on November 10th . As a driver, he served on the Western Front with the 27th Service Company. He avoided serious illness or injury but did register some discipline charges including using insubordinate language, stealing fruit and being in Amiens after 1950. He returned to Australia aboard the China, disembarked on June 8th 1919 and was discharged on July 31st.
