John Henry Porter was born in Ballarat but enlisted on 12th July 1915 from Albert Park where he was a foreman orchardist. He was 29 years old and married. He was posted to the 14th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 5425. He was promoted to Lance Corporal during his service. On 11th April 1917 he was killed in action at Bullecourt. Hs name is on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
