George James Dobson was born in Ballarat, but enlisted from West Guildford, W.A. where he was a blacksmith's striker. He was forty years old and married. He joined the 44th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1640. He died of wounds received in action during the Third Battle of Ypres, and is buried in Boulogne East Cemetery, France.
