Sydney Weir (SN 10258) was born in Brynmawr, Wales, and enlisted at Blackboy Hill, Perth, on December 29th 1915. He was a 39 year old school teacher, a widower. He joined the 12th Field Ambulance and reached France in June 1916. On September 3rd 1916 he was killed in action at Mouquet Farm, has no known grave, and his name is listed on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
