Biography

Born in Ballarat, Victoria and a Printer by trade, Edward Ernest Bourne was 33 years and married when enlisted on the 12th of April 1916 in the 23rd Battalion, 15th Reinforcement, and Australian Imperial Force. Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A9 'Shropshire' on the 25th of September 1916. On the 24th of March 1917 wounded in action in France; on the 22nd of May 1917 captured in War at Geflg, Limburg from Geflg Armee at Vaux. Repatriated Prisoner of War from Germany to England – arrived 19th of December 1918. And was listed as returned to Australia per 'Khyber' on the 31st of March 1919 and disembarked on the 21st of May 1919 from the Military Unit and discharged on the 20th of October 1919. Tree No.3879
