Ernest Temple Howard, Buninyong-born sawyer, enlisted as a Private on 6th of August 1918 as a 19 year old with the Recruit Depot Battalion. Private Howard was posted to the 15th General Service Reinforcements and on the 22nd of September 1918 embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Boonah. He returned to Australia on the 20th of December 1918.
