John Wellesley Collett (Depot) was born in Castlemaine and was an 18 year old coil maker when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 23rd 1918. He was in training with the 1st Depot Battalion and Broadmeadows when the Armistice was signed and his unit was demobilised. He was discharged on Christmas eve 1918.
