Claude Bernard Pearce (SN 3846) was born at Lubeck near Horsham and was a 28 year old stockman when he enlisted on July 5th 1917. He joined the 4th Light Horse Regiment and embarked aboard the Commonwealth on November 2nd. He served in Egypt, but mental health issues and hallucinations increased and limited his active service. Assessments and treatment resulted in him embarking from Egypt on July 17th 1919 for return to Australia aboard the Dunluce Castle. He disembarked in Melbourne on August 26th 1919 and was hospitalised for further treatment for his condition which was deemed to be war related. He was eventually discharged on January 10th 1921.
