Claude Bernard Pearce, Lubeck (Ararat)-born Stockman, enlisted in the 4th Light Horse Regiment, 30th Reinforcement on 5th of July 1917. The unit embarked from Melbourne aboard the HMAT A73 Commonwealth on the 2nd November 1917. He returned to Australia on the 17th of July 1919 after receiving a medical discharge.
