Patrick Leo Griffin (SN 5339) was born in Scarsdale and was living there when he enlisted on March 4th 1916. He was 24 years old, single and working as a telegraph linesman. He was posted to the 21st Infantry Battalion and embarked in late July on board the Themistocles. He was seriously wounded and evacuated to 4th General Hospital at Camiers, where he died on February 19th 1917. He is buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
