Biography

Malcolm McCallum Campbell (SN 13037) born at Wallace, was a 19 year old labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 30th 1915. On June 3rd 1916 he embarked aboard the Persic and in November he reached France to serve with the 10th Field Ambulance. He came through the war avoiding major illness or injury and returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff aboard the Sardinia. He reached Melbourne on June 8th 1919 and was discharged on July 23rd.

His brother Irvine also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
