Biography

Raymond Gibson was born in Melbourne, Victoria. He was an electrician by trade before his enlistment at 21 years of age on the 20th of November 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board the HMAT A18 Wiltshire on March 7th, 1916. He was listed as a private in the 22nd Battalion, but on the 20th of March 1916 he was taken on strength to the 29th Battalion, one month later Raymond was transferred to the 59th Battalion. On March 20th 1917, Private Raymond was admitted to hospital for a contusion to his back. He returned to Australia on the 27th of July, and was discharged as medically unfit on November 5th, 1917.
