Biography

Percy Harry Hayes was a single fireman from Ballarat East who enlisted on the 30th of December 1916. He was given the rank of Private with the 1st Australian Light Railway Operating Company. His unit embarked from Melbourne on board the HMAT A70 Ballarat on the 19th of February 1917.
He was promoted to temporary Corporal on the 15th of July 1917, and then promoted again on the 11th of October 1917 to a permanent Corporal. Percy disembarked at Melbourne on the 13th August 1919 and was officially discharged on the 20th of September 1919.
