Biography

William Herbert Edmends (SN 905) was born in Ballarat East and was educated at the Humffray Street State School. He was an 18 year old labourer when he enlisted on February 22nd 1915. He embarked from Melbourne in May on board the Euripides to serve at Gallipoli with the 23rd Infantry Battalion. The Gallipoli campaign was near its end when, on December 7th 1915, he was killed in action. He is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery.
