Victor James Jolly (SN 312) was born in Ballarat and attended the Pleasant Street State School. He enlisted on March 13th 1915 as a 21 year old ironmonger. He was posted to the 24th Infantry Battalion and left Australia in May on board the Euripides. He served through the last three months of the Gallipoli campaign before moving on to France. During his service he was promoted to Company Quarter Master Sergeant. He was killed in action near Mont St Quentin on August 31st 1918, and is buried in Peronne Communal Cemetery, France.
