Biography

Leslie James Morrison (SN 228) was born in Ballarat and enlisted in Melbourne on March 17th 1915. He was 19 years old, single and worked as an engineer's assistant. He was drafted to the 24th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in May. He landed at Gallipoli in late August and was wounded in action shortly before the evacuation. Once recovered he went on to serve in France until he was killed in action at Amiens on August 3rd 1918. He was 22 years of age and is buried in the Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery, France.
