William Harold Clarke enlisted in Ballarat at the age of 23 on the 19th of March 1915. He had been born in Talbot, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Blacksmith. He volunteered and was stationed with the 24th Battalion, 1st Reinforcements with the Regimental Number 849. He was discharged with Enteric fever and Shell Shock and was invalided home to Australia on the 10th of May 1916. Tree No. 436.
