Biography

William James Gingell (SN 884) was born in Ballarat and attended the Pleasant Street State School. He was 24 years old, single and a maker of venetian blinds when he enlisted on March 26th 1915. Posted to the 24th Battalion he left Australia in May.
He served on Gallipoli for the last three months of that campaign before being moved to France in March 1916. On July 30th 1916 he was killed in action and is buried in the Pozieres British Cemetery, France.
