Biography

James Arthur Geddes (SN 789) was born in Scarsdale. He was 35 years old, married, and working as a builder in Ballarat. On 27th March 1915 he enlisted in Melbourne in the 1st A.I.F. having previously served in the Boer War. He was posted to the 24th Infantry Battalion and departed for the battlefields of Gallipoli in May.
During his service he was promoted to Corporal. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on September 20th 1915 and is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey. He was 36 years of age.
