Biography

Eric Thomas Brind from Ballarat, was educated at Ballarat College and Melbourne University before qualifying as an engineer. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant with the 23rd Battalion on March 24th 1915. He embarked aboard theEuripides on May 10th and saw action at Gallipoli from September until the evacuation in December 1915. He reached France in March 1916 and in May was promoted to the rank of Major. On July 28th 1916 he was listed as missing in action at Pozieres. An enquiry later found he had been killed in action on that day. He has no known grave and is listed on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux and on the honour board of Ballarat College. He was 32 years of age.
