Biography

Born in Clunes, Victoria, Jack Kerr was a single 18 year old blacksmith at the time of his enlistment on the 16thof April 1915.His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on the 10th of May 1915.
On the 10th of July 1917, Jack was promoted to Corporal.
He was wounded in action on the 24th of April 1918, and invalided to England on the 25th of April. On the 27th of April, Jack was admitted to hospital with gunshot wounds to his neck and back. He returned to Australia on the 26th of November 1918, and was discharged on the 11th of January 1919 as medically unfit.
