Biography

Born in Ballarat, Harry Thomas Lingham was a single 22 year old shop assistant at the time of his enlistment as a Sergeant on the 12th of January 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A31 Ajana on the 4th of June 1915. On the 14th of August 1916, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. Harry was promoted again on the 12th of December 1917 to Company Quartermaster Sergeant, Warrant Officer Second Class. He was awarded the meritorious service medal on the 14th of June 1918. Harry returned to Australia on the 18th of May 1919 and was discharged on the 9th of August 1919 due to the termination of his enlistment period.
