Biography

Roderick Allan Lawrie (SN 3169) born in Ballarat, was a 20 year old draper’s assistant when he enlisted in Ballarat on March 15th 1915. He trained with the Medical Corps before embarking aboard the Ajana on June 4th, and in late August he joined 6th Field Ambulance at Gallipoli. After Gallipoli he was moved to France in March 1916 and served there until he was transferred to the 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital in England. He returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff aboard the Wandilla, disembarked at Melbourne on May 18th 1919 and was discharged on August 6th.
