Ivan Cletus Sevior was born in Ballarat East, Victoria, was single and a Driver when he enlisted with the h Field Ambulance, Section A on 15 March 1915 at the age of 19. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A31 Ajana on 4 June 1915. According to his records he completed his tour of duty without major incident, illness or injury. However, on 17 July 1916 he was awarded 168 hours for hesitating to obey an order given by an NCO. He returned home to Australia on 30 April 1919 aboard the Kashmir.
