Biography

Joseph Edward Lee (SN 94) was born at Pimpinio near Horsham and was a 23 year old engineer when he enlisted in Ballarat on August 18th 1914. He embarked from Melbourne on board the Benalla in October and served through the Gallipoli campaign after which he was transferred to the 60th Infantry Battalion and moved to France in June 1916. He was killed in action on July 19th 1916 at Fromelles, France. He has no known grave but is commemorated at the V.C. Corner Australian Cemetery Memorial , Fromelles, France.
