Biography

Reginald Edgar Allen (SN 1621) born in Ballarat, was a 23 year old shoeing smith when he enlisted in Brisbane on August 20th 1914. On September 25th he embarked aboard the Rangatira, first to Egypt and then to Gallipoli to serve with the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade. After Gallipoli he was transferred to the 11th FAB and moved to France in June 1916. He came through the war avoiding serious illness or injury and returned to Australia on submarine guard duty aboard the Arawa. He disembarked in Melbourne on November 17th 1918 and was discharged in Brisbane on January 19th 1919.
