Biography

Thomas Theophilus Walters was born in Stawell, Victoria, was single and a farmer living at 1304 Dana Street, Ballarat, Victoria when he enlisted with the Divisional Ammunition Column on 26 August 1914 at the age of 20. On 30 April 1915 he joined the MEF at Gallipoli and was admitted to the 15th General Hospital in Alexandria in August 1915. He was invalided home to Australia for æloose body in knee' and was deemed medically unfit for service, receiving his final discharge on 15 February 1916.


He had two brothers who also served: Pte Percival William Walters, 14th Bn, returned to Australia, 18 October 1917 (Tree No. 244) and Lionel Stanley Walters, 2nd Machine gun Bn, returned to Australia, 18 October 1917 (Tree No. 2312)
