Harold Henry Field-Martell (Capt.) was born in Ballarat and was a 34 year old medical practitioner when he applied for a commission on November 4th 1914. He had previously served on Thursday Island with the Australian Army Medical Corps. At the rank of captain, he embarked on January 25th 1915 to serve at Rabaul with the 3rd Naval and Military Expeditionary Force. He returned to Australia in August and his commission was terminated on September 12th 1915. He also served during World War 2.
