Biography

James George Dow (SN 156) born in Ballarat, was a 29 year old bushman when he enlisted in New South Wales on September 7th 1914. Assigned to the 13th Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Ulysses on December 22nd and took part in the Gallipoli landing on April 25th 1915. He was evacuated from Gallipoli in October for eye treatment. He then had further health issues and was returned to Australia aboard the Clan Macgillivray, disembarked on July 14th 1916 and was discharged on September 13th ‘medically unfit, neurasthenia’.
