Frank Lindsay Davies was a 20 year old, single and a bank clerk when he enlisted in Ballarat on 17th September 1914. He was born in Woodend. He joined the 23rd Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 4381. Later he transferred to the 7th Infantry Battalion. He died of wounds on 8th November 1916 during the fighting around Gueudecourt, and is buried in Heilly Station Cemetery, Fleurbaix, France.
