Biography

William Henry Crockford was born in Mount Clear, VIC and was a Labourer by trade when he enlisted in the 9th Light Horse Regiment, C Squadron on 21 September 1914 at the age of 25. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A10 Karroo on 11 February 1915. He received a gunshot wound to the right arm on 28 August 1915 and was transferred to hospital in England and admitted to Endell Street Military Hospital. He then returned to Australia on Hospital Transport Themistocles and embarked to Melbourne on 4th June 1916. He received his final discharge as æMedically Unfit' on 13 November 1916.
