Stanley Hector Robinson was born in Ballarat, was single and a Blacksmith when he enlisted in the 14th Battalion, A Company on 7 October 1914 at the age of 18. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A38 Ulysses on 22 December 1914. IN May of 1915 he suffered a gunshot wound to the right clavicle (shoulder) and was transferred to base depot hospital in Weymouth, England. He recovered, but was later struck with colic. In 1916 he again was transferred to hospital for influenza and rheumatism and arthritis. He was invalided to Australia on 11 April 1916.
