Biography

Cuthbert John Stanley-Lowe (also spelled æStanley-Low') was born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single and a Farmer when he enlisted with the 9th Light Horse Regiment, C Squadron on 29 September 1914 at the age of 23. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A10 Karroo on 11 February 1915. According to his medical records he had fought recurring bouts of tonsillitis resulting in multiple operations, but still gained a sore throat and lost the ability to speak if using his voice daily. There were also reports of rheumatism, resulting in a medical discharge. He returned to Australia 29 August 1915.
