Biography

Albert Edward Rowlands was born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single and a Cordialmaker when he enlisted in the 1st Field Ambulance, C Squadron on 24 August 1914 at the age of 23. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board Transport A14 Euripides on 20 October 1914. According to his digitized records his tour of duty was uneventful other than the occasional illness (bronchitis) which led to a brief hospital stay and a few issues of overstaying his leave (AWL). He returned to Australia from Havre on 3 October 1918.
