George Joseph Basil Quarrell was a carter who was born in Ballarat and enlisted there on 4th March 1915. He was 19 years old, and single. He was accepted into the 23rd Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1054. He was killed in action on the 29th November 1915 near Lone Pine. He is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
