George Everett James was born at Ballarat East and was teaching at Mt Rowan when he enlisted on 16th December 1914. He was 24 years old and unmarried. He was posted to 8th Infantry Battalion and promoted to Captain. He was seriously wounded near Pozieres, and died on 24th July 1916. He is buried in the Becourt Military Cemetery, France.
