Sergeant Arthur Alfred Burrow, Ballarat-born Baker, enlisted in the 8th Infantry Battalion on 18 August 1914. He was wounded in action in France on 26 April 1916 and admitted to 5th General Hospital for 1 month due to shell shock. He was again admitted to hospital for a gunshot wound to the left thigh and later discharged on Special leave on 13 December 1918.
