Biography

William Edward Werner was born in Donald, but enlisted from Ballarat on 25th February 1915. He was 21 years old, married, and a labourer. He was posted to the 21st Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1785. Later he was transferred to the 24th Infantry Battalion. On 29th November 1915 he was killed in action at Gallipoli. His name is on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
