Albert Stanley McPherson, born in Canadian near Ballarat, enlisted in the 8th Infantry Battalion on 18 August 1914. On 26 July 1916 Private McPherson received a severe gunshot wound to the foot, leg and eye, resulting in the loss of his right eye and a medical discharge.
