Biography

William Tainsh was born in Ballarat East, and as a stonemason he enlisted from Ballarat on 12th March 1915. He was a 25 year old bachelor. He joined the 5th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 2237. On 5th August 1915 he was killed in action at Gallipoli (gunshot wound to the heart), and is buried in Beach Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
