Biography

William Tainsh (SN 2237) was born in Ballarat East and, as a stonemason, he enlisted from Ballarat on March 12th 1915. He was a 25 year old bachelor when he joined the 5th Infantry Battalion. On August 5th 1915 he was killed in action at Gallipoli with a gunshot wound to the heart, and is buried in Beach Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
