Francis John Ludbrook born in Ballarat, was a 19 year old carpenter when he enlisted on March 29th 1915. He was assigned to the 6th Field Ambulance. His unit embarked from Melbourne aboard the Ajana on June 4th 1915. In March 1916 he joined the 12th Field Ambulance in France and, aside from a transfer to the 15th Field Ambulance in June 1918, it seems his service was completed without significant incident. He returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff on the Euripides, and disembarked at Melbourne on Anzac Day 1919.
His cousins Joseph and Herbert also served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
