Biography

Francis John Ludbrook was born in Ballarat and was a Carpenter by trade when he enlisted in the h Field Ambulance, Section A on 29 March 1915 at the age of 19. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A31 Ajana on 4 June 1915. In March 1916 he joined the 12th Field Ambulance in France and, aside from a transfer to the 15th Field Ambulance in June 1918, it seems his service was completed without significant incident. He returned to Australia as a member of the nursing staff on the Euripides, and disembarked at Melbourne on Anzac Day 1919.
