Biography

Joseph Henry Scott (SN 3221) was born in Ballarat and attended the Urquhart Street State School. He was a 25 year old, unmarried baker when he enlisted on March 22nd 1915. He joined the 8th Field Ambulance and embarked from Melbourne in June on board the Ajana. He arrived in Gallipoli at the end of August then was posted to France in March 1916. He served as a driver in several units before being promoted to Corporal while serving with the 2nd Australian Mechanical Transport Company. He was killed in action near Lille on August 18th 1918, and is buried in Daours Communal Cemetery, France.
