Biography

Charles Edward Orme, born in Bendigo, was a married 41 year old labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on the 9th of April 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board SS Makarini on the 15th of September 1915. On the 23rd of March 1917 Charles was admitted to the Kitchener War Hospital for chronic rheumatism. He left England for return to Australia on the 11th of January 1918 and disembarked in Australia on the 4th of March 1918. Charles was discharged as medically unfit on the 10th of April 1918 due to senility and chronic rheumatism.
