Biography

Peter Arthur Jarvie (SN 1583) was born in Balnarring but attended the Brown Hill State School. He was 35 years old, single and a labourer when he enlisted on May 4th 1915. He was posted to the 21st Infantry Battalion and departed for the battlefields in late June on board the Berrima. He served on Gallipoli through the latter months of that campaign before moving on to France in 1916. He was killed in action at Pozieres on the Western Front on August 4th 1916. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
