John Joseph Haniford Williams enlisted in Pontville, Tasmania at the age of 25 on the 20th of August 1914. He had been in Ballarat, Victoria, was single and employed as a Labourer. Hee volunteered and was stationed with the 12th Battalion, D Company with the Regimental number 511. He received wounds to the forehead and died of those wounds on the 1st of May 1915. He has no known burial, but he is commemorated at the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli on Panel number 35. Tree number 686.
