Biography

Frederick Alston Cooper (2nd Lt.) born in Melbourne was a 28 year old master builder when he enlisted at Seymour on May 12th 1915. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on November 5th then on February 8th 1916 he embarked aboard the Warilda for active service. In late March he reached France to serve with the 22nd Infantry Battalion. In August illness forced his evacuation to England and he was returned to Australia aboard the Shropshire. He disembarked at Melbourne on March 21st 1917 and his commission was terminated on July 27th. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number V360922.
