Biography

Born in Brighton, Victoria and a Master Builder by trade, Frederick Alston Cooper enlisted on the 12th of May 1915 in the 22nd Battalion, 9th Reinforcement, Australian Imperial Force, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was listed as returned to Australia on the 16th of February 1917. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A69 'Warilda' on the 8th of February 1916. On the 1st of November 1916 placed on supernumerary list under para 3A of rules governing promotions of Officers; on the 31st of July 1916 to Hospital sick; on the 14th of October 1916 transferred to England from the 2nd A.D.B.D. Etaples – Sick; discharged from Hospital to Duty on the 10th of August 1916. Embarked per H.T. 'Moshobra' from England for return to Australia Unsuitable on the 11th of January 1917; Embarked per H.T. 'Shropshire' from Suez on the 16th of February 1917. Tree No. 690
